AGARTALA : The Tripura government will bear 100 percent of the increased electricity bill burden faced by ordinary consumers since May, state Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced at a press conference held Friday at the Secretariat here.
Addressing reporters, Nath said the state had decided to fully absorb the additional cost that had built up over the past several months, offering significant relief to households across Tripura.
The minister noted that other entities also share a portion of the financial burden linked to the bill hike. He specifically pointed to organizations such as BSNL and the Railways, which he said would bear 15 percent of the increased charges.
Nath added that the government’s decision was aimed at easing the mounting pressure on common electricity consumers, many of whom had raised concerns over the sudden spike in their bills in recent months.
The announcement is expected to bring relief to a wide section of consumers across the state, particularly those from low- and middle-income households who had been most affected by the increase.
