Sonamura: The DYFI Sonamura Divisional Committee organised a protest march in Sonamura subdivision on Sunday, alleging that BJP workers obstructed CPI(M) activists from hoisting the national flag in Kalamchoura and Nalchar, and disrupted a blood donation camp in Sepahijala and West Tripura districts.
According to DYFI, CPI(M) workers were prevented from hoisting the tricolour by BJP booth presidents and workers in Kalamchoura and Nalchar. Separately, a blood donation camp organised at the Dukli residence of DIF state secretary Nabarun Deb was allegedly disrupted and forced to shut down by BJP activists.
Denouncing the incidents, DYFI’s young workers marched from the CPI(M) Sonamura subdivisional office carrying party flags, moving through several roads before converging at Rabindra Chowmuhani.
Addressing the media, DYFI Sonamura Divisional Committee secretary Indrajit Saha questioned the state’s law and order, asking what rule of law remains when people cannot organise a blood donation camp or hoist the national flag. Taking a sharp dig at the Chief Minister, he alleged that BJP’s “goon squads” would not succeed in intimidating CPI(M) and DYFI workers.
The protest saw a notable turnout of DYFI supporters.
