Agartala: Men, women and young girls across the region are set to observe fasts and offer worship to Lord Shiva on the last Monday of Shravan, one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar for devotees of the deity.
Ahead of the ritual, devotees began setting out for Khoyerpur Ghat from Sunday night to collect holy water meant for the offering to Lord Shiva, locally known as “jal bhora.” An overflowing crowd of devotees was witnessed at the ghat through the night and into the early hours, as worshippers queued up to collect water before heading to nearby Shiva temples.
The steady stream of devotees, many walking barefoot in traditional saffron attire, underscored the religious fervour surrounding the concluding Monday of the sacred month. Organisers and local volunteers were seen assisting with crowd movement at the ghat to ensure smooth proceedings.
With Shravan drawing to a close, temples in the area are expected to witness heavy footfall through the day as devotees complete their vows with prayers and offerings to Lord Shiva.
