The teachers’ key demands included disbursement of monthly salaries by a fixed date — the 1st of every month — assurance of job security, and measures to address the ongoing shortage of teachers in schools, among other issues.
A delegation representing the contractual teachers took part in the deputation, comprising Rajendra Debbarma, Pradyut Sinha, Sebika Debnath, Sukhesh Debbarma, Piyush Debbarma, and Lalita Debnath.
Speaking to reporters after the deputation, Rajendra Debbarma, Secretary of the District Committee of Contractual Teachers, said the delayed salaries were causing hardship and reiterated the need for a permanent solution to ensure timely payment and job security for contractual staff.
