AGARTALA: The Communist Party of India (CPI) organised a three-hour mass sit-in demonstration in the area adjacent to the Circuit House here, rallying support around an 18-point charter of demands.
Party workers and supporters gathered in large numbers to participate in the protest, which was held under the banner of the CPI’s Tripura State Council. The demonstration saw leaders and cadres voicing their grievances on a range of issues included in the charter.
Speaking on the occasion, Milan Baidya, Secretary of the CPI Tripura State Council, addressed the gathering and outlined the party’s position on the demands raised.
The sit-in passed off peacefully, with participants holding placards and raising slogans in support of their cause. Security arrangements were reportedly in place near the Circuit House during the demonstration.
The CPI has indicated that this agitation forms part of its continuing efforts to press the state and central governments on the listed demands, with further action to follow if the issues remain unaddressed.
