AGARTALA: Marking the 84th anniversary of “Bharat Chhodo Diwas,” the All India Kisan Khet Mazdoor Sabha (AIKKMS) — a constituent of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha — submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the West Tripura District Magistrate on Monday, as part of nationwide programmes called by the Morcha and central trade unions alongside the day’s jail-bharo agitation.
A delegation led by state unit secretary Subrata Chakraborty submitted the memorandum, which raised eight key demands: scrapping the India-US free trade agreement and any pacts signed without parliamentary debate; withdrawing the National Policy Framework on Agricultural Marketing, calling it a backdoor revival of the three repealed farm laws; legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price; farm loan waivers and Rs 25 lakh compensation for families of farmers who die by suicide; repeal of the four labour codes with a Rs 42,000 monthly minimum wage; 200 days of MGNREGA work annually at Rs 700 daily wage; withdrawal of the Electricity Privatisation Bill-2025, Seeds Bill-2025 and the proposed National Food Security Act; and implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 alongside a halt to forced land acquisition.
