Agartala: Tripura is set to celebrate the fifth edition of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from August 9 to 17, with a series of programmes planned across the state, Health and PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte announced on Friday.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, the campaign encourages citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes and foster a personal connection with the Tricolour. This year’s edition carries a special focus on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, under the theme “Tiranga Salute to the Spirit of Vande Mataram.”
The state-level main rally will be flagged off by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha from Ujjayanta Palace at 4:30 pm on August 11. The campaign will also feature Tiranga exhibitions, concerts, and bike and cycle rallies across districts, blocks and panchayats, along with the popular “Selfie with Tiranga” initiative.
Officials said adequate flag stocks built up over previous years have brought the state close to saturation in availability. To meet any additional demand, district administrations are arranging further supplies through Self-Help Groups, with SHG flag rates revised to encourage participation.
Authorities have urged wide participation from youth, students and NGOs through the nine-day celebration.
