Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday following a phone conversation in which the two leaders reviewed the India-Israel strategic partnership and exchanged views on the evolving situation in West Asia, as the regional conflict continues into its sixth month.
Sharing PM Modi’s post on X, Netanyahu wrote in Hebrew, “Thank you, my friend, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Together we continue to strengthen the bond between Israel and India.”
PM Modi had earlier confirmed the call in his own post, writing that he had “received a phone call from the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu,” and that the two leaders “reviewed the progress across various aspects of the special strategic partnership between India and Israel, which continues to strengthen and develop steadily.” He added that they “also exchanged views regarding the current situation in West Asia.”
The Prime Minister’s Office, in a separate statement, said the two leaders assessed the continued progress of the India-Israel Special Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation across a range of sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries, and agreed to remain in touch.
The exchange comes against a volatile regional backdrop: the West Asia conflict has persisted for more than five months without resolution, with Iran reportedly warning Gulf states of possible strikes on their energy and water infrastructure, and Israel reporting fresh military casualties in Lebanon in recent days.
The India-Israel Special Strategic Partnership was formalised during PM Modi’s state visit to Israel in February, and spans defence, technology, agriculture, water management and trade. Friday’s call marks the latest in a series of regular exchanges between the two leaders since then, reflecting what both sides have repeatedly described as a steadily deepening bilateral relationship even as the wider region remains unsettled.
