Khowai: Ahead of Independence Day on August 15, security forces intensified vigil in the border areas here, with joint patrolling and vehicle checking carried out by the CRPF and BSF under the initiative of Khowai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Prarjit Malakar.
The joint exercise aims to ensure comprehensive security arrangements in the border belt in the run-up to the national celebrations, with personnel keeping close watch on movement in sensitive stretches.
As part of the drive, vehicles plying through the area were thoroughly checked, with security personnel verifying documents and inspecting for any suspicious items or activity. The patrolling covered key points along the border to prevent any untoward incident during the Independence Day period.
Officials said such coordinated exercises between the police, CRPF and BSF are aimed at strengthening the security grid and maintaining vigilance in border-adjacent areas, particularly during periods of heightened national significance.
The initiative is expected to continue in the coming days, with further checkpoints and patrols likely to be set up as August 15 approaches.
