Longtharai Valley: A national highway blockade was staged at Manu Ghat in Longtharai Valley subdivision today, with protesters demanding the resignation of the Power Minister over alleged lapses in electricity services.
Angry residents reportedly blocked the highway, disrupting vehicular movement in the area for the duration of the protest. According to sources, a tense situation prevailed at the spot as protesters raised slogans against the state’s power department, alleging persistent issues with electricity supply.
The demonstrators are said to have voiced strong resentment over what they described as prolonged neglect of power services in the region, though specific details regarding the nature and duration of the disruption have not yet been confirmed.
Security personnel were reportedly deployed at the site to manage the situation and ensure law and order was maintained. Officials from the Power Department were not immediately available for comment.
