Agartala: Sayantika Dhar, a young talent from Udaipur in Gomati district, has made her Tollywood debut with the recently released Bengali film “Anando Ashram,” adding another bright name to Tripura’s growing list of achievers in the film industry.
Produced by Maa Durga Production and directed by Ranjan Dutta, the family drama was released on July 31 and has already drawn appreciation from audiences and the film fraternity.
Sayantika, daughter of the late DSP Surajit Dhar of Tripura Police and homemaker Rakhi Singha Dhar, is currently a ninth-grade student. Alongside academics, she has trained in classical and Western dance since childhood. She entered the acting world in 2025 after spotting a social media advertisement, later receiving training in Kolkata that led to her film opportunity.
Set around an orphanage, “Anando Ashram” carries a social message centred on resistance against corruption. The cast includes veteran actors Bodhisattva Majumdar, Kaushik Banerjee and Labani Sarkar alongside Sayantika.
Sayantika credited her mother’s inspiration for her journey and expressed hope to work in more films ahead. Her mother, Rakhi Singha, said parents today must let children pursue their own interests rather than focus solely on academics, adding that television and film can also offer successful careers.
