Tripura:Police recovered and seized a total of 44.5 kg of ganja in an unclaimed condition during mobile duty operations conducted last night along the Batadola border road, UNC Nagar border road, and Fakirdola border road. The estimated market value of the seized contraband stands at Rs 8,90,000.
The seizure was made as part of routine mobile patrolling by police personnel stationed in the border areas, which have frequently been used as transit points for narcotics smuggling. Acting on suspicion during their rounds, the patrol teams intercepted and recovered the contraband, though no one came forward to claim ownership of the consignment at the time of seizure.
Officials said the ganja was likely being transported through these border stretches to evade detection, taking advantage of the porous terrain connecting the areas. The seized narcotics have been taken into police custody, and further investigation is underway to trace its origin and intended destination.
Police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying vigilance along border roads to check the smuggling of narcotics into and within the state. Authorities have urged residents in the bordering localities to report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest police station.
