Police Nab Thief in Khejur Bagan Gold Theft Case

AGARTALA: Police have arrested a person allegedly involved in the theft of gold ornaments from a house in the Khejur Bagan area of the capital, officials said.

The theft took place on August 4, when two gold chains and an anklet were reportedly stolen from a residence in the locality. Following a complaint lodged by the house owner, personnel from NCC Police Station launched an investigation into the matter.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, police were able to trace and apprehend the accused within a short span of time, officials said.

NCC Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Paritosh Das provided details of the case to the media, outlining the sequence of events leading to the arrest.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused was involved in similar thefts in the area and to recover the stolen items, if not already recovered.

Officials reiterated appeals to residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activity to help curb such incidents in residential neighbourhoods.
