DHARMANAGAR: The CITU Dharmanagar District Committee organised a rally here today as part of build-up activities for the nationwide “Jail Bharo” (Fill the Jails) agitation called by CITU on August 10, based on the trade union’s 11-point charter of demands.
The rally began from the CPI(M) Dharmanagar district office and wound through the town’s main roads before returning to conclude at the party office.
Leaders of the CITU district committee led the march, which also saw participation from senior CPI(M) functionaries. CPI(M) state committee member Amitabha Dutta and CPI(M) sub-divisional committee secretary Ratan Roy were among those present, along with other party leaders.
The August 10 nationwide movement is aimed at pressing the Centre on the 11-point charter of demands raised by CITU, which reportedly includes issues related to workers’ rights and livelihood concerns, though the specific demands were not detailed in available reports.
Party workers raised slogans during the march, reaffirming their commitment to the upcoming agitation.
