BISHALGARH: A woman was allegedly assaulted by a group of local residents in the Bhuiyar Matha area under Bishalgarh police station, following long-standing complaints of domestic abuse against her in-laws, sources said.
The woman has been identified as Jhotan Das, wife of Kamal Das. According to local residents, she had allegedly been subjecting her father-in-law, mother-in-law and husband to repeated physical and mental harassment over an extended period, including alleged threats of implicating them in false cases.
Sources said tensions in the locality had reportedly been building for some time. On the day of the incident, a group of local women allegedly gathered and assaulted the woman, resulting in significant commotion in the area.
On receiving information, police from Bishalgarh police station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. An investigation into the incident has been initiated, officials said.
No official statement has yet been issued confirming the allegations against the woman, and the matter remains under police inquiry.
