BSF Arrests Cameroonian National at Bilonia Border, Sent to 3-Day Remand

BILONIA: A 41-year-old Cameroonian national was arrested for allegedly attempting to illegally cross into India through the Ballamukha border in Bilonia’s Ishan Chandranagar Gram Panchayat area, officials said.

The man, identified as Peters Molla, was reportedly intercepted by jawans of the 43rd Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF), while allegedly trying to cross the barbed-wire fence along the Indo-Bangladesh border in the early hours of the morning.

According to sources, he was first taken to the 43rd Battalion’s Border Outpost (BOP) for preliminary questioning before being handed over to Bilonia police station after completion of legal formalities.

Produced before a local court, police sought custodial interrogation, citing the need to establish the motive and circumstances behind his alleged infiltration. The court reportedly granted a three-day police remand.

Officials said investigators are examining whether the accused acted alone or with the involvement of others, including possible links to human trafficking networks, though no such connection has been confirmed so far.
