The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a series of militant operations across Balochistan, asserting that 97 Pakistani military personnel were killed and 15 seriously injured in 48 attacks carried out during July, according to reporting attributed to The Balochistan Post and ANI. Pakistan has not officially confirmed these figures, and independent verification remains limited due to restricted access in conflict‑hit areas.
BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the group targeted Pakistani military and state forces, along with military and economic infrastructure, communication systems, and surveillance networks. The alleged operations spanned 23 locations, reflecting a broad geographic spread of insurgent activity.
One of the most significant attacks reportedly occurred on 22 July, when BLF fighters ambushed a Pakistani military convoy at Macro Stop in the Khadkocha area of Mastung. The group claims 17 personnel were killed and 10 injured, with extensive damage inflicted on vehicles in the convoy. BLF says these operations are part of its effort to weaken what it describes as Pakistan’s “colonial structure” in Balochistan and prevent exploitation of the region’s natural resources.
The group also claimed responsibility for killing five individuals it described as informants or agents. Analysts note that such claims are common in Baloch insurgent communications, though they often cannot be independently verified.
The BLF’s statements come amid rising violence in Balochistan, where multiple separatist groups have escalated attacks on security forces, infrastructure, and state‑linked entities. Pakistan’s military has intensified counter‑insurgency operations in response, contributing to a cycle of violence that continues to destabilise the region.
