DUKLI: The CPI(M) Dukli Subdivisional Committee organised a procession on Friday in support of the party’s “Jail Bharo” (Fill the Jails) movement scheduled for August 10.
The march started from Dropgate and proceeded to Nagerjala, culminating in a roadside public meeting. Addressing the gathering, party West District Secretary Ratan Das and Dukli Subdivisional Committee Secretary Samar Chakraborty spoke on the objectives of the upcoming movement, under the presidency of local CPI(M) leaders Rajkumar Chowdhury and Kalyani Chowdhury.
Among those present at the procession were women’s leader Swapna Dutta, Scheduled Caste leader Bipadbandhu Harishdas, labour leader Srijan Deb, and other party functionaries.
The “Jail Bharo” movement is being organised by the CPI(M) as part of its broader campaign; specific demands driving the August 10 action were not detailed at Friday’s event.
