MELAGHAR: A road built at a cost of over ₹6 crore in Indira Nagar has developed large potholes barely six months after construction, sparking anger among local residents who say substandard materials were used from the outset.
The road, which runs from Melaghar Indira Nagar Pachormar Ghat Road to Urmai Hospital, has seen the worst damage near Indira Nagar Ala Bakshi Madrasa, where large craters have formed, causing minor and major accidents on a near-daily basis.
Residents said they had raised concerns about the road’s construction quality from the start, warning it wouldn’t survive six months — a prediction they say has now been borne out. Pedestrians and motorists warned that without immediate patch repairs, the road could become entirely unusable within days or by the upcoming monsoon.
As the road serves as the main route to Urmai Hospital, residents have demanded urgent intervention from the administration to carry out repairs before the situation worsens further.
