MOHANPUR: The road connecting Noagaon to Taltala School under Ward No. 6 of East Bamutia Panchayat in Bamutia block has remained in a state of severe disrepair for decades due to lack of maintenance, forcing residents to risk their lives while commuting.
Since the area is predominantly agricultural and home to wildlife, school students, farmers, and local residents are compelled to use the dilapidated road and an accompanying Bailey bridge daily, facing acute hardship, especially during the monsoon season.
Local residents said the matter has repeatedly been brought to the notice of public representatives, the Panchayat Pradhan, and the former MLA, but no concrete action has followed. They alleged that despite sanctions being announced from time to time, actual repair work has never materialised.
Speaking to the media, villagers expressed frustration over the prolonged neglect, stating that successive administrations have made promises without delivering results on the ground.
They urged the concerned department to take immediate steps to repair both the road and the Bailey bridge, stressing the safety risks faced by commuters, particularly children and farmers, who have no alternative route.
It remains to be seen whether authorities will act on the residents’ long-standing demand.
