UDAIPUR: Gomati District Police achieved a significant breakthrough in its anti-narcotics drive, arresting three persons and seizing approximately seven grams of brown sugar packed in 70 separate containers.
The operation, conducted under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debanjali Roy, was based on specific intelligence inputs. Acting on a tip-off, police tracked an auto-rickshaw (registration number TR03C 3018) travelling from Melaghar in Sepahijala district towards Udaipur in Gomati district. The vehicle was intercepted near Bivek Sangha in Udaipur on Sunday evening.
The driver and two other occupants were arrested and identified as Bishal Das (Chhanbon), Rabi Chowdhury (Sonamura Choumuhani), and Arghya Das (Agriculture Choumuhani). A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the suspected contraband from Bishal Das’s possession.
Police personnel from Radhakishorepur Police Station reached the spot and completed legal formalities before taking the accused and the vehicle into custody. The seized narcotics have been weighed and are undergoing the confiscation process.
SDPO Debanjali Roy said a case has been registered under the NDPS Act, adding that Bishal Das has a prior case under the same Act. Investigations are ongoing to identify others potentially linked to the drug network.
