Public Harassed by Hours-Long Wait at Teliamura Electricity Office; Junior Engineer Accused of Rude Conduct

TELIAMURA: Residents faced severe hardship on Monday after enduring hours-long queues at the Teliamura Electricity Corporation office for recharge services, with only one of two counters functioning and repeated server malfunctions compounding delays for over a hundred customers standing in intense heat.

A section of locals alleged that while ordinary customers waited in long lines, some staff facilitated quick recharges for acquaintances through the alternate counter, though this claim could not be independently verified.

When journalists sought an explanation from Junior Engineer Biswajit Biswas regarding the public’s suffering, the situation reportedly turned tense, with the officer allegedly responding in a rude and threatening manner and objecting to being filmed, rather than addressing the concerns raised.

Locals further alleged that complaints of negligence against the officer are not new, claiming he devotes more attention to social media activity than to his official duties and public service delivery.

The incident has raised questions about accountability and transparency at the department, with residents demanding immediate steps to resolve the persistent service disruptions and ensure officials remain answerable to the public they are meant to serve.

The Teliamura Electricity Corporation is yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
