Tripura’s Animal Resource Development Department inaugurated 50 block-level Mini Mobile Veterinary Units at a programme held at Pragya Bhawan, Agartala, marking a significant push to modernise and expand animal healthcare services across the state. Minister for Animal Resource Development, Fisheries and Scheduled Castes Welfare, Sudhangshu Das, inaugurated the units and formally flagged off the vehicles.
West Tripura Zilla Parishad Chairman Biswajit Sheel and around 300 departmental officials and staff attended the event. Addressing the gathering, Das reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering modern, accessible and farmer-friendly veterinary care to livestock rearers at their doorstep, expressing hope that the initiative would reduce animal mortality, boost productivity, and improve livelihoods for livestock owners.
Symbolic keys to the units were handed over to drivers by the Minister and other dignitaries during the event.
The new units build on the state’s existing fleet of 13 mobile veterinary units, extending coverage to every block. Linked to the 1962 toll-free veterinary helpline, the mini units will provide doorstep services including treatment, emergency care, vaccination, deworming, artificial insemination, pregnancy testing, and disease monitoring — strengthening last-mile veterinary access across Tripura.
