Brazen Theft at Teliamura PWD Office Raises Security Concerns

TELIAMURA: A daring theft at the Water Resource Division office under the PWD Department in Teliamura Sub-Division has raised serious questions over the security arrangements at government offices, after thieves broke into the premises and made away with valuable equipment on Tuesday night.

The theft came to light on Wednesday when, despite a government holiday on account of Kharchi Puja, a few employees visiting the office for urgent work found the main gate’s lock broken. On alerting other staff, it was discovered that the miscreants had not only breached the main entrance but had also broken open the locks of every room, along with lockers and cupboards inside the office, ransacking the premises.

Preliminary assessment revealed that three Android mobile phones used for official purposes, along with several motors and other important government equipment, had been stolen.

A complaint has been lodged with Teliamura Police Station, though police were yet to visit the spot at the time of filing this report.

The incident has left local residents questioning the safety of property in the area, given that thieves managed to loot a government office with such ease. Department employees have demanded a thorough investigation, swift arrest of those responsible, and recovery of the stolen items at the earliest.
