SIPAHIJALA: A chartered accountant, along with his wife, was allegedly attacked by a group of miscreants on the road in front of Golaghati Sipahijala School while the couple was returning home, triggering fresh concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
According to reports, the assailants, believed to be under the influence of intoxicants, accosted the couple as they were heading towards their residence at Golaghati. The attack has left residents of the area alarmed, with many alleging that incidents of this nature have been on the rise in recent times.
Locals claimed that anti-social elements have become increasingly active after dark, making it unsafe for people to move around in several parts of the state during night hours. They urged the administration to step up patrolling and take stringent action against habitual offenders operating in the area.
The extent of injuries suffered by the victims and further details of the incident are yet to be officially confirmed. It remains unclear whether a formal complaint has been lodged with the police in this connection.
