AGARTALA: The All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) and All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan (AIMSS) jointly staged a protest demonstration near City Centre here on Wednesday, condemning the police crackdown on agitating protesters in Delhi.
Activists of the three organisations gathered at the venue carrying banners and placards, raising slogans against what they termed as high-handed police action on demonstrators who had been staging protests in the national capital over issues concerning students and youth.
The protesters alleged that the use of force against peaceful agitators in Delhi was unjustified and demanded accountability from the authorities concerned. They further alleged that the crackdown was aimed at suppressing the voices of students and youth raising legitimate concerns.
Speaking on the occasion, leaders of the three organisations called upon the central government to address the underlying issues instead of resorting to repressive measures against protesters exercising their democratic right to dissent.
The demonstrators demanded immediate action against those responsible for the alleged police excesses in Delhi and reiterated their solidarity with the protesting students and youth.
The protest concluded peacefully, with the organisations warning of further agitational programmes if their demands remain unaddressed.
