CM Manik Saha Inaugurates Kharchi Festival 2026

AGARTALA: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha formally inaugurated the traditional Kharchi Festival 2026 at the Chaturdasha Devata Bari temple premises in Khayerpur, Agartala, marking the beginning of one of Tripura’s most revered religious celebrations.

The festival, dedicated to the worship of the Chaturdasha Devata, the fourteen deities regarded as the royal gods of erstwhile Tripura, holds deep historical and cultural significance for the state, tracing its origins to the era of the Manikya kings.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister is likely to have highlighted the festival’s importance in preserving Tripura’s rich cultural heritage and its role in fostering communal harmony among the people of the state.

The temple premises witnessed a large turnout of devotees and dignitaries who gathered to witness the inaugural ceremony. Traditional rituals, including the ceremonial worship of the deities, formed a key part of the proceedings.

Kharchi Festival, celebrated annually with great fervour, continues to draw devotees from across Tripura and neighbouring states, reaffirming its status as a symbol of the region’s enduring cultural and religious traditions.
