AGARTALA: In a major push toward urban development and infrastructural growth, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha chaired two consecutive high-level review meetings at the State Guest House conference hall in Agartala. The sessions focused heavily on the progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) 2.0 and a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s power sector.
The day commenced with a strict evaluation of SBM 2.0, where Chief Minister Saha emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving absolute cleanliness, scientific waste management, and open-defecation-free sustainability across Tripura. Addressing senior officials, Dr. Saha noted that public participation and robust civic infrastructure are the twin pillars required to elevate Agartala and surrounding municipalities into model clean zones.
Directly following the cleanliness drive review, the focus shifted to the state’s energy infrastructure with a high-profile review meeting of the Power Department. This crucial session saw the pivotal attendance of Union Minister Manohar Lal, alongside Tripura’s Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath and top bureaucratic officials.
The joint central-state meeting evaluated the current power generation capacity, distribution losses, and the modernization of Tripura’s electrical grid. Discussions focused on securing central assistance to upgrade rural electrification networks and ensuring uninterrupted, quality power supply ahead of the upcoming peak seasons.
Union Minister Manohar Lal assured the state government of complete assistance from the Center to bolster Tripura’s energy security and green energy initiatives. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha concluded the twin sessions by directing department heads to maintain a strict timeline for project completions, stating that administrative accountability is non-negotiable for the state’s progress.
