Marking a major milestone for local healthcare, the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Civil Hospital officially commenced its Outpatient Department (OPD) services on Monday. The long-awaited initiative aims to provide accessible and quality medical assistance to the region’s residents.
On the very first day, the hospital successfully operationalized regular OPD clinics across two distinct shifts, functioning smoothly in both the morning and afternoon. Patients started gathering early at the registration counters, expressing relief that essential medical consultations are now available closer to home.
Providing a detailed overview of the launch, Dr. Sushanta Saha, Medical Officer and Hospital In-Charge, highlighted the comprehensive layout of the new services. He emphasized that the dual-shift system is strategically designed to manage patient loads efficiently and reduce waiting times. Dr. Saha assured the public that adequate medical personnel, including specialized doctors and nursing staff, have been deployed to ensure uninterrupted service delivery from day one.
“Our primary focus is to maintain consistency in these daily OPD services,” Dr. Saha stated, adding that infrastructural adjustments are continually being monitored to enhance patient comfort. Hospital authorities confirmed that diagnostic facilities and essential pharmacy counters are also aligned with the OPD timings to streamline the overall treatment process.
The successful first day of operations has raised expectations among local citizens, who previously had to travel long distances for primary health consultations. The hospital administration plans to gradually expand special clinics in the coming phases.
