Kamalasagar:A group of unruly youths allegedly created a disturbance at Kanchanmala Primary Health Centre late Saturday night, threatening an on-duty woman doctor and other health staff and attempting to assault them, according to hospital sources.
The incident occurred around 2 AM when Shubham Majumder of Chankhola, under Kamalasagar Assembly constituency, allegedly arrived at the hospital with several others and began the rampage, sources said. Hospital authorities alerted Amtali Police Station, and police rushed to the spot, detaining Majumder along with several others.
Doctors, health staff, and patients present at the hospital were left panicked by the incident. Locals said a similar incident had reportedly occurred at the same hospital last year, raising concerns over recurring lapses in hospital security.
Patients and residents have appealed to the state Health Department and police to ensure such incidents are not repeated and have demanded strict legal action against those detained.
