Kamalpur:Former Member of Parliament Pratima Bhowmik on Sunday extended her support to Ipshita Namasudra, a resident of Kamalpur suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a rare and debilitating genetic disorder that affects muscle strength and movement.
Bhowmik visited and met with the family, offering assistance and expressing solidarity with the child amid her ongoing health struggles, sources said.
SMA is a rare neuromuscular condition that requires specialised and often expensive treatment, placing considerable financial and emotional strain on affected families. Ipshita’s case has drawn attention from local residents and well-wishers, with calls growing for greater support to aid her treatment.
Bhowmik’s gesture comes as part of continuing efforts by public representatives and community members to help families battling rare diseases access adequate medical care and resources.
