TELIAMURA: Teliamura MLA Kalyani Saha Roy visited several waterlogged localities within the Teliamura Municipal Council area on Wednesday, following a rise in the Khowai River’s water level due to continuous rainfall that left multiple low-lying wards flooded.
Saha Roy, who also serves as the state’s Chief Whip, toured the affected areas, inspected the situation firsthand, and interacted with residents to understand the challenges they were facing.
During the visit, she held discussions with administration and municipal council officials to ensure the safety and essential services of water-affected families, including access to food, drinking water, medical care, and shelter.
The MLA stated that the administration remains committed to standing by the public during this natural disaster and assured that necessary steps are being taken to prevent hardship for residents.
She also visited relief camps set up in the area, speaking with displaced residents about their needs and directing officials to maintain adequate services and facilities at the shelters.
Officials noted that the rise in the Khowai River’s water level has led to flooding in several wards of the Teliamura Municipal Council area, with both administration and elected representatives actively engaged in relief efforts.
Authorities said further precautionary measures would be implemented should weather conditions deteriorate further.
