BAMUTIA: A powerful storm caused extensive damage in the Brindaban Chowmuhani area under Bamutia Assembly constituency, uprooting trees and damaging houses, electricity lines, and duck farms, among other property, officials and residents said.
Bamutia MLA Nayan Sarkar visited the affected area to assess the extent of the damage, accompanied by CPI(M) leaders Partha Das and Bishnu Das, along with several local residents.
During the inspection, the MLA reportedly interacted with affected families to understand the scale of their losses and assured them of support in seeking compensation.
Sarkar stated that he would take up the matter with the Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate and formally press for adequate compensation to be provided to the affected families at the earliest.
Local residents described the damage as significant, with several homes reportedly suffering structural damage and disruption to power supply in the area following the storm.
Efforts are said to be underway to assess the full extent of the damage, with authorities expected to conduct a detailed survey of affected households and properties.
Residents have appealed for swift administrative action to restore normalcy in the area and expedite compensation processes for those who suffered losses.
