AGARTALA: The Agartala Press Journalist Club on the occasion of International Sports Journalists’ Day distributed accidental insurance policies among sports journalists and sports photojournalists here, in a programme attended by senior dignitaries including a state minister and an Olympian.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy and Padma Shri gymnast Dipa Karmakar were among those present at the event, which recognised the contribution of sports journalists and photojournalists covering the state’s sporting landscape.
The insurance policies were distributed to provide financial security to media professionals covering sports, who often work in demanding and occasionally hazardous conditions while reporting from the field.
