AGARTALA: The Tripura Government Teachers’ Association (TGTA, H.B. Road) and the Tripura Teachers’ Association (TTA, H.B. Road) have jointly called a press conference to announce a teachers’ march and rally in Agartala on July 5, demanding exemption of senior teachers from the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), following a recent Supreme Court verdict affecting them.
The press conference was scheduled for Thursday at 4:30 PM at Shikshak Bhavan, Melarmath.
According to the joint teachers’ bodies, the upcoming march and rally will press for senior teachers to be granted complete exemption from the TET examination, either through a Central Cabinet ordinance or an amendment to the relevant law in Parliament, in order to safeguard teachers’ professional dignity in the wake of the apex court’s ruling.
TGTA (H.B. Road) General Secretary Ashish Chowdhury, in a communication announcing the press conference, appealed to media houses to depute representatives to cover the event.
