Temple Funds Under Fire: Congress Demands SC-Monitored Probe

AGARTALA: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee held a press conference at Congress Bhawan on Tuesday, targeting the BJP government over alleged corruption linked to Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir and demanding action against those responsible.

The controversy stems from allegations of embezzlement of nearly Rs 7.75 crore from the temple’s donation boxes and funds, reportedly triggering political debate nationwide. Eight cash-counting staff members of the temple have been accused of involvement in the matter.

CWC member and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, addressing the press conference, demanded an impartial probe into the allegations and called for strict action against the accused under Supreme Court supervision.

Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha alleged that irregularities had also occurred in the construction work of the Tripura Sundari Temple, accusing the BJP government of indulging in corruption “in the name of religion.” He urged residents of the state to raise their voice on the issue and announced that the Congress would launch a state-wide agitation over the matter.
