AGARTALA: Two youths have been detained by West Police Station in connection with the recovery of a young man’s body from the Howrah river, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Ramzan Ali. His body was reportedly recovered from the river on June 28.
Confirming the detention, West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee said the two youths were taken into custody in connection with the case. He added that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is currently underway.
Police have not yet disclosed the exact cause of death or the nature of the youths’ alleged involvement, and no formal charges have been announced so far. Sources close to the investigation suggest further questioning of the detained individuals is expected in the coming days, though this could not be independently confirmed.
