BAMUTIA: A farmer and self-proclaimed original BJP worker, Hemangal Das, has alleged that negligence by engineers and panchayat representatives has caused severe damage to his agricultural land in the Tebaria Sabuj Sangha area under North Lakshmilunga Gram Panchayat, after a newly constructed drain’s outlet was directed straight onto his farmland.
According to Das, the drain, built recently behind Tebaria Sabuj Sangha Club, channels all monsoon water and accumulated garbage directly onto his cultivable land, leading to waterlogging and extensive crop damage.
Das claimed he had raised objections with the North Lakshmilunga Gram Panchayat Pradhan and the engineer concerned even before construction began, but his concerns were allegedly ignored, and the drain was completed regardless, damaging his legally owned land.
Demanding an immediate and proper resolution from the concerned authorities, Das warned that he would be compelled to resort to alternative means of protest if his grievance continues to be overlooked.
The incident has raised fresh questions over planning oversight in local infrastructure projects and its impact on private agricultural land in the area.
