DHARMANAGAR: A bicycle distribution programme was organised on Saturday at Saraspur Amtila Vinanjappa Higher Secondary School under Kadamtala Block in North Tripura, as part of the State Government’s ongoing initiative to strengthen the education sector.
Bicycles were distributed among selected students from the 2023–24 and 2024–25 academic sessions, with school authorities stating that the scheme aims to ease commuting for students from remote areas, improve attendance, and encourage them to continue their education.
The event was attended by Teacher-in-Charge Abhijit Chakraborty, school teachers, Gram Panchayat Pradhan Aparna Malakar, SMC member and social worker Parimal Chandra Nath, SMC members Rita Ghosh and Pradip Chand, Gram Panchayat Deputy Pradhan Dilip Goswami, and other local dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, guests emphasised that the bicycle scheme plays a vital role in encouraging regular school attendance, particularly among rural students. Chakraborty added that he hoped the bicycles would make the students’ educational journey smoother and more convenient.
The programme, part of a statewide distribution drive, concluded on a joyful note, with beneficiary students expressing happiness over receiving their new bicycles.
