Ratan Lal Nath Attends Centre’s Video Conference on Drought Preparedness

AGARTALA: State Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday participated in a video conference on drought-mitigation preparedness, chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, attended by agriculture ministers and officials from across the country.

During the conference, Nath informed that Tripura has already received above-normal rainfall this season, easing concerns over drought conditions in the state. He said all necessary arrangements for the Kharif cropping season, including quality seeds, fertilisers, sprayers, irrigation support and emergency contingency measures, have been put in place to assist farmers and ensure a smooth sowing season.

The minister added that the state’s agriculture department remains on alert to address any unforeseen challenges farmers may face during the season.

The video conference also touched upon the upcoming International Pineapple Day, scheduled to be celebrated on June 27 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. Discussions were held regarding Tripura’s participation in the event, given the state’s significant pineapple production and its growing recognition on the national stage.

Further details on the state’s representation at the Delhi event are expected to be announced shortly.
