SONAMURA: Sonamura police on Monday recovered and returned 23 lost mobile phones to their owners, in a special drive aimed at recovering public property and strengthening trust in policing services.
The recovered handsets were formally handed over to their owners at the Sonamura police station office by Sepahijala District Additional SP Rajib Sutradhar.
According to police, the District Detective Branch undertook the exercise by reviewing General Diaries (GDs) filed at the station regarding lost mobile phones. Through a combination of technical tracking and sustained intelligence efforts, officials were able to trace and recover all 23 devices.
Speaking on the occasion, police officials said the recovery reflected the department’s commitment to combining modern technology with on-ground intelligence work to deliver effective, people-oriented services. They added that such successes play a significant role in building public confidence in the police force.
The beneficiaries, visibly relieved upon getting their phones back, thanked the district police for the initiative, saying such efforts have further strengthened public trust in law enforcement.
Police said similar drives would continue to help residents recover lost property in the future.
