Golden Reunion: Umakanta Academy’s Class of ’76 Marks 50 Years with Tree Plantation

Agartala: Former students of Umakanta Academy who studied at the school in 1976 came together to celebrate 50 years since their time there, organising a tree plantation drive and a series of other programmes on the occasion.

Agartala Mayor and local MLA Dipak Majumdar attended the event as a special guest, along with other dignitaries and former students who travelled from various places to take part in the golden jubilee celebration.

The day began with a tree plantation ceremony on the school premises, symbolising the batch’s lasting bond with their alma mater and their commitment to environmental conservation.

The reunion saw former classmates reminiscing about their school days, sharing memories, and reconnecting after decades. Several alumni spoke about the values and education they received at Umakanta Academy, which they said shaped their personal and professional lives.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Dipak Majumdar congratulated the batch on completing fifty years of camaraderie and praised their gesture of giving back to the school through the plantation drive.

The programme concluded with an exchange of greetings and a collective pledge to continue nurturing their decades-old friendship.
