Agartala: For the first time, the Tripura Body Builders and Fitness Association (TBFA) will hold district-level bodybuilding competitions across all its affiliated districts starting next month, officials announced at a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club on Sunday.
Addressing reporters, TBFA president Tanay Das said the West District-based competition will kick off the series on July 19. Following this, similar competitions will be organised successively across the remaining districts in the state.
The district-wise series will conclude with the Dhalai District-based competition, scheduled for August 22, Das added.
The press conference was attended by Sarayu Chakraborty, President of the Sports Journalists’ Federation of India, along with several other office-bearers of the association.
Officials said the initiative aims to identify and promote local bodybuilding and fitness talent at the grassroots level, giving athletes from every district an opportunity to compete and qualify for higher-level state competitions.
The TBFA expressed confidence that the district-based format would significantly boost participation and visibility for the sport across Tripura, encouraging more young athletes to take up fitness and bodybuilding as a competitive discipline.
