Agartala: On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, observed globally every year on June 12, the social organisation REVA organised a series of meaningful programmes at a private hotel in the state capital Agartala on Friday, in association with Nishad REVA School of Art and Music and the Tripura Labour Commission, aimed at raising awareness about child rights, the importance of education, and the urgent need to eliminate child labour from society.
The event, organised as a joint initiative of the three organisations, featured a sit-and-draw competition for students, providing young participants with a creative platform to express their perspectives on child rights, education, and the harmful effects of child labour through art. The competition drew enthusiastic participation from students of various age groups, who presented thought-provoking and colourful illustrations reflecting their understanding of the issue.
The programme also included an awareness discussion session on child rights and education, where speakers highlighted the legal provisions protecting children from exploitation, the importance of ensuring every child has access to quality education, and the collective responsibility of society, government, and communities in eradicating child labour in all its forms.
Officials from the Tripura Labour Commission, representatives of REVA, and members of Nishad REVA School of Art and Music were present at the event and addressed the gathering, emphasising the need for sustained awareness campaigns and community-level action to protect children from exploitation.
The organisers expressed hope that such programmes will inspires greater public awareness and commitment towards building a child-labour free society in Tripura.
